The Regional Emergency Response Centre, Hyderabad, held its co-ordinators meet at ‘Gurukul’, Nuclear Fuel Complex (NFC), Hyderabad, in co-ordination with Crisis Management Group, Department of Atomic Energy (CMG, DAE) and Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) during March 11-12.

The CMG and BARC operate 25 of RERCs across the nation to cater to the radiological and nuclear emergencies arising in public domain from time to time. The meet was conducted among all the RERC coordinators to review and strengthen the preparedness for radiological and nuclear emergencies.

NFC Chairman V.V. Mahesh Kumar, CMG-DAE Saras Seth and other officials who participated shared experiences of various radiological response events, emergency drills and discussed future improvements required in communication, rapid deployment of monitoring teams and effective coordination with State authorities, said a press release.
