A one-day workshop on the new curricula to be introduced nationally from academic year 2026-27 in allied and healthcare professional institutions was organised by the Kerala State Allied and Healthcare Council (KESAHC) here on Tuesday. KESAHC was constituted in the State under the National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions Act 2021. KESAHC regulates, standardises, and registers over 50 categories of allied and healthcare professionals to ensure quality education and ethical standards. S. Gopakumar, Registrar of the Kerala University of Health Sciences, who inaugurated the workshop, said that KUHS was finalising the procedures for implementing the new curriculum. The new competency-based curricula for ten allied and healthcare professions, is being introduced nationally by the Union Health Ministry, in collaboration with the NCAHP, so that globally competent allied and healthcare professionals can be produced to address the growing demand for these professionals. The new national curricula, which is expected to set a benchmark for the quality of healthcare professionals, will also ensure uniformity of skills The Principals of various allied and healthcare professional colleges in Kerala participated in the workshop The chairperson of KESAHC, Abdunnasir M., presided. The Director of Medical Education K. V. Viswanathan, Joint Director of Medical Education T. V. Anupam Kumar, Kavitha Ravi, Dean of the Allied and Healthcare Department, KUHS, among others, participated.
