Heggodu Honnesara-based Charkha Women’s Multi-purpose Industrial Cooperative Society will organise a three-day exhibition and sale of natural coloured pure cotton handlooms and handicrafts in Ramnath Mangal Karyalaya in Bhagya Nagar of Belagavi from Friday. Craftspersons will be given 10 stalls at the fair. Handloom ready-made garments, fabrics, natural coloured bedspreads, saris made of Jamdani cloth, kurtas, shirts and home decor items will be available. In addition, there will be saris from North Karnataka, ready-made garments from Gajendragad, banana fibre products from Chetana Group Sirsi, natural cosmetics, plant seeds from Beeja Botanical, organic food items from Hiranmayi Foods, artistic saris from Swavalambi Sakhi, Dharwad, various cane products from Sahana Reeds, Gadag, Lambani embroidered saris from Shramjeevi Pratishthan, Belagavi, leather products from Shivaraj and Indira Terracotta Jewellery from Heggodu will be on sale. Sri Allama Prabhu Swami of Naganur Rudrakshi Math will inaugurate the fair which is being organized under the Pavitra Vastra Scheme sponsored by the Handloom and Textiles Department. Veteran designer and campaigner G.N. Gopikrishna, Joint Director of the Western Zone of the State Handloom and Textiles Department Shivaraj Kulkarni and Deputy Director of the Shivamogga Handloom and Textiles Department Shivalingappa N. Kumbar will participate. Charkha Sangha president Mahalakshmi will preside over the event, said a release.
