Ravichandra inspected the functioning of the luggage deposit counter set up at Alipiri, aiming to enhance the facility and reach out to more devotees. During his visit to the centre with the Chief Vigilance and Security Officer K.V. Muralikrishna, he inspected how the baggages deposited by the trekking devotees were being transported safety to Tirumala. It has been a practice for the trekking devotees to deposit their luggage at Alipiri, the foot of the hills, and take it back once they reach the hill top. The TTD’s logistical system transports the luggage using trucks which reach the hills by the time the trekkers reach the same spot after climbing the stairs. The officials explained to Mr. Ravichandra that a receipt containing an automatically generated QR code is issued to the devotees upon deposit. Nearly 6,000 bags are transported from Alipiri to Tirumala on normal days and the number reaches nearly 10,000 on festival days. Assistant Vigilance and Security Officer (Alipiri) Ramesh Krishnan and other officials were present.
