The Salem District Hotel Owners Association said that 75% of hotels will be closed in the district from Friday (March 13, 2026) due to the unavailability of commercial LPG. Addressing the media on Thursday (March 12, 2026), the association president P.L. Palanisamy said that for the past three days, commercial LPG cylinders were not supplied to hotels in the district. He added that cylinders that were already in stock were used and there are no cylinders in stock from Thursday, forcing hotels to be shut from Friday.
