Rajendran on Thursday (March 12, 2026) stated that in the past five years in Salem district, a total of 1.21 crore beneficiaries have been benefited from welfare assistance and development schemes worth ₹22,117 crore. On Thursday, the Minister inaugurated the construction works for a memorial of 22 martyrs who were killed in a police firing at Salem Central Prison in 1950. The memorial will be constructed on the Salem Central Prison premises at a cost of ₹3 crore. The Minister stated that Chief Minister M.K. Stalin laid the foundation stone for the memorial through video conferencing on February 26.
