Poornachandra Kumar Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has accused the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leaders of working with the sole agenda of ‘Target Tirumala’ to tarnish the image of the world-famous temple by continuously making false claims. Addressing a media conference here on Wednesday (March 11, 2026), TTD trust board member and the BJP’s senior functionary G. Bhanuprakash Reddy charged the local leaders led by former TTD Chairman Bhumana Karunakar Reddy of playing to the tunes of the ‘Tadepalli palace’, an oblique reference to the residence of Party president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. He made a specific mention of the recent accusations made by YSRCP leaders on the temple theft reported in ‘Parakamani’ (the process of counting the offerings made into Srivari Hundi at Tirumala) by a contract worker Penchalaiah, and the manner in which the issue was blown out of proportion after several months. Hitting back at Mr. Karunakar Reddy for his ‘hollow charges’, Mr. Bhanuprakash Reddy said that the TTD management had taken appropriate action against the contract worker him and got him arrested for the crime. “In sharp contrast, C.V. Ravikumar, the notorious Parakamani thief during the YSRCP regime was given a royal treatment and turned into a coveted donor to the TTD, by stripping him of his properties and forcing him to donate the same to the TTD in an apparent out-of-court settlement. Is this the way to deal with a criminal?”, he sought to know. Mr. Reddy accused the YSRCP of relentlessly playing with the sentiments of Hindu devotees by targeting Tirumala temple.
