National Conference alleges attempt to kill Farooq Abdullah in Jammu; one detained

The National Conference (NC) on Wednesday (March 11, 2026) said there was an attempt on the life of party president Farooq Abdullah at a wedding ceremony in Jammu. One person has been detained, the J&K Police said. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said his father had a “very close shave”, and that it was only the NC president’s “close protection team that deflected the shot and ensured that the assassination attempt failed”.
