The minister, along with the civic officials and others, inspected the dumping yard near the bypass road in Karimnagar on Wednesday. The denizens of the nearby residential colonies have long been demanding shifting of the dumping yard, raising serious health and environmental concerns. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said he had inspected the dumping yard as directed by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to chalk out a plan to find a lasting solution to the pollution woes in the residential colonies located nearby the dumping yard. He noted that the Chief Minister had already assured to ensure relocation of the dumping yard to a distant place somewhere between Karimnagar and Warangal. The government will start the process of shifting the dumping yard scientifically and ensure the completion of the whole process within a year, he said. Waste management initiatives under the Smart City Project failed to take off on the desired lines in the past, he said, apparently taking a swipe at the previous BRS-governed Karimnagar Municipal Corporation.
