In protest against the erosion of constitutional reservation rights and the denial of justice faced by Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) communities, various tribal groups in Kerala will hold a convention at the Sree Sabareesa College Auditorium in Murikkumvayal here on Saturday.

The convention’s key demands include abandoning attempts to implement the ‘creamy layer’ within SC/ST communities, filling all backlog vacancies on a war-footing, implementing SC/ST reservation laws in Kerala similar to the Karnataka model, preventing individuals who have abandoned tribal heritage from availing SC/ST benefits, ensuring representation of SC/ST candidates within the top 10 ranks in government recruitment, guaranteeing reservations in the private sector and special protections for the most marginalised, strictly enforcing atrocity laws and enhancing educational benefits and scholarships.

The event will be presided over by Balan Poothadi, State President of Kerala Kurichya Samajam, with P.K. Sajeev, General Secretary of Mala Araya Mahasabha, delivering the welcome address. The convention will be inaugurated by K.V. Vijayan IPS, while K.R. Gangadharan IRS, former GST Commissioner and MET Chairman, will present the subject overview.
