Dismissing the petition filed by two police aspirants, Madurai Bench of Madras High Court on Wednesday held that the setting of syllabus was within the discretion of the recruiting authority. No legitimate expectation can be claimed that the same pattern would be followed every year.

The court was hearing the petition filed by two police aspirants. The Tamil Nadu Uniformed Services Recruitment Board issued a notification in April 2025 for the recruitment to the post of Sub Inspector of Police. They applied and attended the examinations conducted pursuant to the notification.
