Telangana’s new Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla | Photo Credit: BY ARRANGEMENT Recently appointed Governor of Telangana, Shiv Prakash Shukla has assumed the charge on Wednesday (March 11, 2026). Mr. Shukla was administered the oath of office by Telangana High Court Chief Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh at a ceremony held in the Lok Bhavan in Hyderabad this morning. He replaces Jishnu Dev Varma — who was transferred as the Governor of Maharashtra in the recent reshuffle effected by the Central Government. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao, Director General of Police B. Shivdhar Reddy, Ministers, MLAs, MPs and others were present at the swearing in. Mr. Shukla has a long political career of close to four decades. A four time MLA of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly, he was a member of Rajya Sabha and served as Minister of State for Finance in the first tenure of Prime Minister Narendra Modi .
