The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court on Tuesday sought the response of the Centre and the State to a public interest litigation petition that sought a direction to the authorities concerned to establish a government owned State level Financial Hub / NBFC in Tamil Nadu for the effective implementation of schemes of the National Scheduled Castes Finance and Development Corporation and for proper utilisation of the funds allocated for the Scheduled Castes. A Division Bench of Justices N. Sathish Kumar and M. Jothiraman was hearing the petition filed by C. Selvakumar of Madurai. The petitioner said it was alarming that in the past five years not even a single beneficiary from Madurai district had benefited under the schemes of the National Scheduled Castes Finance and Development Corporation (NSFDC).
