The Kerala Cabinet on Tuesday (March 10, 2026) decided to establish the Kerala State Narcotic Control Bureau (State NCB) under the Excise department to tackle drug-related crimes. The government has also approved the creation of 41 additional posts for special mobile squad units to intensify action against atrocities targeting Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe communities. The posts will be distributed across Agali in Palakkad (16 posts), Mananthavady in Wayanad (14 posts) and Kasaragod (11 posts). The Cabinet also decided to set up a new NRI police station to address complaints and issues faced by Non-Resident Indians. A total of 25 posts will be created for the station, including those for inspector (one), sub-inspectors (six), assistant sub-inspectors (six), senior civil police officers (five), civil police officers (seven).
