A farmers’ association has charged the Water Resources Department (WRD) with violating provisions of the Tamil Nadu Farmers’ Management of Irrigation Systems Act, 2000, in effecting water distribution in PAP (Parambikulam Aliyar Project) Main Canal. In a representation to the Engineer-In-Chief, P. Velusamy, president of the PAP Vellakovil Branch Canal (Kangayam-Vellakovil) Water Conservation Association, alleged misuse of power by the leadership of the Project Committee for PAP-Palar Basin, and also questioned the absence of Apex Committee under the Act.
