The (BMNVC), which aims to restore near vision, improve livelihoods and empower local women entrepreneurs by creating a community of primary eye care providers was launched in Udhagamandalam in The Nilgiris on Tuesday (March 10, 2026). In a press release, the BMNVC said that “near vision impairment” or presbyopia affected nearly one billion people in the world, while they estimate that in India, one in every four person need near vision correction.
