Sale of garments for Ramzan has picked up at textile markets in Erode on Tuesday. | Photo Credit: GOVARTHAN M. The textile market in the city, which usually witnesses dull sales during the off-season between March and April, is seeing comparatively better business this year as people purchase garments for the upcoming Ramzan festival. Traders said the period is generally considered a lean season for the textile trade due to the absence of major festivals and wedding functions. As a result, customer footfall in textile and readymade garment shops normally remains low. However, the Ramzan festival has brought some cheer to traders this year. Retailers said people have begun purchasing new clothes for the festival, leading to moderate sales in the market.
