Water release from Bhavanisagar Dam into the Kalingarayan Canal has been extended by 22 days, until March 31, 2026. According to a Government Order No. 151 issued by the Water Resources Department on March 9, 2026, water had been released into the canal for 120 days, from November 10, 2025, to March 9, 2026, to irrigate 15,743 acres in the ayacut areas. Based on requests from farmers and the recommendation of the District Collector, the government decided to extend the water release by 22 days, until March 31. The order stated that the total water release during the extended period would not exceed 950.40 million cubic feet.
