Ahead of the Assembly elections, for which the date is expected to be announced soon, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), including the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), have begun arriving in the district for duty.

In all eight Assembly constituencies in the district — Erode (East), Erode (West), Modakkurichi, Perundurai, Bhavani, Anthiyur, Gobichettipalayam and Bhavanisagar (SC) — there are a total of 17,40,222 voters. A total of 2,379 polling stations will be set up at 983 locations for voters to exercise their franchise. Apart from closed-circuit television cameras and local police, CAPF personnel will be deployed at vulnerable booths to ensure the smooth conduct of polling. Eight companies of CAPF and Tamil Nadu Special Police Battalion personnel will also be deployed.
