The Kochi City Police have imposed traffic regulations on Wednesday (March 11, 2026) in view of the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the city. The restrictions will be in place on three VVIP routes. Route 1 Traffic will be restricted between the Naval Base and Marine Drive from 12 noon to 12.30 p.m. Traffic along the route will be diverted from 11 a.m. Private and KSRTC buses from Fort Kochi/Mattancherry to Ernakulam/Kakkanad/Aluva will be diverted from BOT East Junction to Kundannur. Buses from Ernakulam/Kakkanad/Aluva will be diverted from Edappally. Light motor vehicles from Fort Kochi will be diverted at BOT West towards Thevara Ferry, Mattammal, Panampilly Nagar South, Manorama Junction, and Edappally. Those from Bolgatty Junction will be diverted via Chathyath Junction, Pachalam, Pachalam overbridge, Pottakkuzhy, Mamangalam, and Edappally. Vehicles from High Court Junction to Fort Kochi will be diverted via Madhava Pharmacy Junction, DCC Junction, Iyyattil Junction, Chittoor Road, Valanjambalam, the Manorama U-turn, and Panampilly Nagar. Route 2 Traffic will be restricted between Marine Drive and JLN Stadium, Kaloor, from 12.50 p.m. to 1.20 p.m. Vehicles from Aluva to High Court Junction will have to take the following route: Edappally-Mamangalam-Pottakkuzhy-Pachalam overbridge-Chathyath. Route 3 Restrictions will be in place from 3.05 p.m. to 3.30 p.m. Parking has been arranged for those coming from Thrissur, Vypeen, and Paravur on the Bolgatty Water Metro premises, Vallarpadom Basilica ground, and the LNG terminal premises. Vehicles from Thiruvananthapuram, Kottayam, Muvattupuzha, and Fort Kochi will be parked at Durbar Hall Ground, Maharaja’s College Ground, Ernakulathappan Temple Ground, and on the premises of Ayyappankavu Temple. Heavy vehicles will not be allowed to enter the city from 10 p.m. on Tuesday (March 10) until the VIP visit is over, the police said.
