More than 30 students reportedly fell ill after consuming lunch under the noon meal scheme at the Government Middle School in Odakkalpalayam, Sultanpet block, Coimbatore district, on Monday. According to sources, some students vomited at school, while others complained of stomach discomfort to their parents. On receiving the news, panchayat officials and the Block Development Officer (BDO) rushed the children to private hospitals for treatment. BDO Saravanan said that food samples have been sent to the Food Safety Department for testing. “All students are receiving treatment, and no serious symptoms have been reported. We will await the test results,” he added.
