A farmer was hacked to death in his field in Tenkasi district on Sunday. Police said Arumugavel, 63, of Vayali near Sankarankovil was murdered by unidentified persons while he was working in his field. Passers-by saw him lying on the ground with multiple cut injuries and alerted the Karivalamvanthanallur police. His body was sent to Sankarankovil Government Hospital for post-mortem.
