Scheduled Caste habitation in Nagercoil Corporation awaits basic civic facilities despite merger

Kadettri, a Scheduled Caste habitation under Nagercoil corporation, is grappling with several infrastructural challenges, including lack of clean drinking water, street lights and bus facilities.

The locality, surrounded by paddy fields and coconut grooves, was reclassified under corporation limits following the merger of Thengaputhoor town panchayat with Nagercoil corporation, as the area previously fell under the jurisdiction of Thengamputhoor town panchayat.

Residents from the locality say apart from an increase in property and water taxes, they have not received any development measures, since Kadetri’s merger with the corporation.
