Minister for MSME and NRI Affairs Kondapalli Srinivas said that the government is keen to encourage women entrepreneurs in the State with special incentives and soft loans from banks to enable them to create employment locally and spur economic activity. Along with Collector S. Ramsundar Reddy, he inaugurated Women’s Day celebrations organised by the State government at the Vizianagaram Police Grounds on Sunday. He said that over 90 lakh women have become members of Self-Help Groups (SHGs), and he hoped that many would soon start small and medium scale industries in their localities with the support of government and banks. In another programme, AP Women Journalists Association leaders Devi Srinivas, Bode Vijayalakshmi, Suneetha Reddy, Adapa Seema and others organised a blood donation camp on the occasion of Women’s Day. They felicitated Child Welfare Committee chairperson of Vizianagaram Himabindu, Rajam Government Degree College Principal Swapna Haindavi, writer G. Maha Lakshmi, advocate G. Sravya, senior teachers Ramanamma, Ch. V Ratnam and others and recalled their contribution to society in the last three decades.
