Fishermen families from Rajakkamangalam Thurai in Kanniyakumari district have submitted a petition to authorities, requesting the safe evacuation of fishermen from the village, working in the fishing sector in Iran and are now stranded there, amid the ongoing war situation. According to the petition, over 50 fishermen from the village are stranded in Iran, at various coastal areas. Most of them are staying in the boats a few nautical miles from shore and are facing difficulties due to lack of adequate food, poor network connectivity and serious safety concerns. Vimala, 47, from the Rajakkamangalam Thurai, said her husband J. Rajendran, 48, has been working in Iran for the past five years, and is currently in Kish Island.
