Theni Principal District and Sessions Court on Saturday sentenced six persons to life imprisonment for the murder of a man due to previous enmity in P.C. Patti in the district in 2023. It was a case of revenge murder. Principal District Judge Swarnam J. Natarajan sentenced six persons – Gautham, Surya, Visakan, Subhash, Mayan alias Vellai Maya Thevar and Thangapandi – to life imprisonment for the murder of Jagatheeskumar of P.C. Patti, due to previous enmity. The court imposed a fine of ₹5,000 each on the six persons. The deceased Jagatheeskumar was an accused in the murder case of Siva alias Vikram, who was the brother of Gautham. Earlier, Jagatheeskumar had attacked Siva and Gautham. Gautham had sustained injuries in the incident while Siva died. He succumbed to injuries. Jagatheeskumar was hacked to death by the group in a planned revenge attack. The P.C. Patti police had registered a case.
