The family health centre at Edamalakkudy, located in the State’s first tribal panchayat near Munnar in Idukki, has successfully installed an e-health system, Health Minister Veena George has said.

According to the Minister an e-health team from the Health department recently visited the centre to provide the staff training on the new digital framework. In a formal release, the Minister stated that the Edamalakkudy hospital is transitioning into a paperless facility. “UHID cards have already been distributed to the residents, marking a historical achievement,” the Minister said.

Officials noted that patients from Edamalakkudy can now schedule online appointments at the Adimaly Taluk Hospital, the District Hospital, or the Medical College Hospital directly from their local health centre. Based on these appointments, patients will receive priority care upon arrival. Furthermore, patients no longer need to carry physical treatment records, as their medical history will be digitally accessible at both the district hospital and the medical college.

The e-health facilities were installed by a team led by additional project director Dr. Mahesh, joint directors Dr. Ronjon and Akhila Raj, Idukki district project engineer Shinu Thomas, and technical staff member Vishnu.
