Opposition leader and DMK convenor R. Siva has criticised the government for including two non-Muslims as members in the newly-constituted Waqf Board in Puducherry. In a statement, Mr. Siva said the absence of Waqf Board in the Union Territory has delayed implementation of several welfare schemes for members of the Muslim community. With the Assembly elections approaching, the government had hurriedly constituted the Board, the statement said.
