Coimbatore gang-rape case: Convicts are history-sheeters who never faced trial before

The verdict pronounced by the Mahila Court in the Coimbatore gang-rape case was the first trial faced by the three convicts, despite being history-sheeters and accused in murder cases.

According to the police, T. Karuppasamy alias Satheesh, 30, of Singampunari in Sivaganga district was involved in four cases before the gang-rape, including one for a murder in Kinathukadavu police station limits in 2021. He was involved in a robbery targeting a couple within the limits of the Thirumuruganpoondi in Tiruppur in 2023 and a wildlife offence in Kadambur forest range in Sathyamangalam.
