Ahead of the Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections, founder-president of Puthiya Tamilagam K. Krishnasamy said the political party will be conducting its 7th State conference in Madurai on January 7.

Addressing journalists at a press meet held in Madurai on Monday, Mr. Krishnasamy said over 30 resolutions will be passed at the party’s State conference.

Important decisions regarding several key issues, including the way forward for the political party will be discussed at the conference, he said.

To a query on the Tamil Nadu Assured Pension Scheme (TAPS) announced by the State government, Mr. Krishnaswamy said this scheme will not be beneficial in a big way to the government employees.

Moreover, there were no sources to implement the scheme as there was a rising fiscal deficit. If this scheme was implemented, basic infrastructure projects like roads and other government schemes cannot be implemented properly, he said.

He also slammed the DMK government on the Pongal gift hampers. Such gift hampers were fine 30 to 40 years ago. However, in this day and age, the needs, the requirements and the problems of the people have changed and it should be addressed instead.

These issues will be discussed at the conference, he said.
