A dispute over a pet dog led to a scuffle between residents of an apartment complex at Varthur in east Bengaluru, prompting police to register complaints from both sides and launch an investigation.

According to police, the incident occurred at Brigade Utopia Apartment. A resident, Tarun Arora, had taken his pet dog to a designated walking and exercise area, meant primarily for senior citizens.

Some elderly residents objected to the presence of the dog in the area. The situation reportedly escalated after the dog defecated at the spot, leading to a heated argument and an exchange of blows. The entire incident was captured on CCTC camera.

Tarun Arora filed a complaint at Varthur Police Station alleging harassment.

A woman, who was present at the spot, lodged a counter-complaint, accusing Arora of threatening her during the altercation.

Police said CCTV camera footage from the apartment premises is being examined as part of the investigation. The footage reportedly shows an argument between the two parties and a physical scuffle during which a group of residents allegedly confronted Arora, and knocked his phone from his hand.

Officials said such disputes are increasingly being reported in apartment complexes, often arising from disagreements over common space usage.

Police have recorded the statements from both sides as part of their probe.
