The Telangana Government Doctors’ Association (TGDA) has submitted a representation to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Monday, January 5, seeking immediate intervention to resolve a range of long-pending service, administrative and academic issues affecting government doctors working under the Directorate of Medical Education (DME), Directorate of Public Health (DPH) and the Telangana Vaidya Vidhana Parishad (TVVP).

A key demand raised by the association is the conversion of the TVVP into a full-fledged Directorate of Secondary Health Services (DSHS). Highlighting staffing challenges in remote institutions, the association has demanded the sanction of a special allowance for faculty working in rural and tribal medical colleges.

The TGGDA has further demanded the sanction of earned leave encashment for medical college faculty on par with faculty of the Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS). The association has also sought the immediate transfer of professors to existing vacancies.
