Chairman of the Karnataka State Guarantee Schemes Implementation Authority H.M. Revanna has said that by achieving 98% of the target, Dharwad district has topped the State in the implementation of the five guarantee schemes.

He was inaugurating a district-level guarantee schemes workshop and Guarantee Utsav organised jointly by the Dharwad district administration, zilla panchayat and district guarantee schemes implementation authority in Dharwad on Monday.

Mr. Revanna said that the Chief Minister gave 165 assurances in the election manifesto and he has fulfilled them within a short time.

The participation of a huge number of women in the Guarantee Utsav is an indication of the fact that the benefits are reaching the eligible households, he said.

Recalling the welfare measures initiated by previous Congress Chief Ministers D. Devaraj Urs, Gundu Rao, M. Veerappa Moily, S. Bangarappa and S.M. Krishna, the Minister said that through the guarantee schemes, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has initiated development of the commoners.

“Around ₹1 lakh crore is being directly credited to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries. Women have availed of 638 crore free trips in public transport buses. Shakti scheme has now found place in London Book of World Records, Golden Book of World Records and International Book of Records,” he said.

And Gruha Laxmi, Gruja Jyoti and Yuva Nidhi schemes are being effectively implemented, he said.

Labour Minister and Dharwad district in-charge Santosh Lad said that for the implementation of guarantee schemes, ₹3 lakh crore will be spent in five years. He elaborated on various labour-friendly measures initiated by his department both for organised and unorganised sector workers.

MLA N.H. Konaraddi elaborated on how guarantee schemes have benefited the common people.

Vice-Chairman of Belagavi Division of the implementation authority S.R. Patil said that the beneficiaries are getting benefits without the menace of middlemen.

Delivering a talk on guarantee schemes, Vasu H. said that guarantees and development are synonymous.

While Yuva Nidhi helps the unemployed, the money from guarantee schemes has resulted in increased business transactions resulting in generation of additional employment. Consequently, Karnataka now has topped the country in per capita income, he said.
