HYDERABAD

Senior leader of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) T. Harish Rao accused the Congress government of spending huge money for issuing newspaper advertisements in support of the Congress party’s campaign for the forthcoming Kerala Assembly elections.

On one hand the ruling party was crying hoarse stating that the State’s coffers are empty, but on the other it is spending huge public money from Telangana for the Congress party in Kerala elections, he stated.

Criticising the ’wastage’ of crores of rupees from the public exchequer of Telangana on the advertisements, he questioned the morality of spending money for newspaper advertisements in Kerala. The BRS leader said the ruling party had failed to keep the six guarantees and over 420 other promises, but was giving full-page colour ads.

The Congress betrayal in Telangana started with deceiving the women in the name of Mahalakshmi scheme, under which they were promised financial support of ₹2,500 a month. Similarly, the 10 grams of gold in addition to over ₹1 lakh financial support on marriage and scooters to the college going girls were all forgotten.

Mr. Harish Rao alleged that the ruling party had misled Kerala, claiming that it had made one crore women in Telangana ‘crorepatis’. The unemployed youth were promised issuance of a job calendar every year for filling 2 lakh jobs each, but in vain.

The government had no money for the basic needs of school-going children, but it has ample money for the Chief Minister’s foreign tours and for pursuing short-term certificate courses there. The BRS leader further alleged that the Congress government had stopped Rythu Bandhu/Bharosa and failed to give the enhanced social security pensions among many others.
