The court, on Friday, awarded life imprisonment to a mason, Dev Kumar (30), after convicting him of murdering a loco pilot, D. Ebinizer (52), near the railway station yard on October 10, 2024. Dev Kumar intercepted the loco pilot while he was coming to Vijayawada railway station to report for duty around 2 a.m., near F-Cabin, and demanded money. When the victim refused to give, Dev Kumar attacked him with stones on his head and chest, took away ₹750 from his pocket, and escaped, said Government Railway Police (GRP) Circle Inspector J.V. Ramana, who investigated the case. The GRP and the RPF police arrested Dev Kumar, a native of Singahi village of Muzaffarpur District in Bihar.
