The Bargur Hills, located in the northern part of Erode district, are home to members of the Sholaga tribal community. Farmers in the region traditionally cultivate finger millet, beans and maize, which depend largely on the monsoon. During the off-season, many tribal families migrate to neighbouring districts in search of livelihood opportunities.
