The U.S. has given India a temporary 30-day waiver to buy Russian oil that is already stranded at sea. The decision comes as tensions in West Asia disrupt global oil flows. India had reduced Russian oil imports sharply in recent months. But the current crisis has exposed a major vulnerability: India’s dependence on oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz.
