In a move to bolster Kerala’s transition into a knowledge-based economy, Sreenarayanaguru Open University (SGOU) has entered into a strategic academic partnership with Kerala Dinesh IT Systems Limited. The collaboration aims to launch a series of cutting-edge vocational diploma and certificate programmes specifically designed to meet future industrial demands and technological advancements. The formal Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed at the university headquarters in the presence of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Jagathy Raj V.P. and syndicate members. This partnership represents a major leap beyond traditional academic contracts by directly integrating practical industrial skills into the curriculum. As part of the first phase, five specialised vocational courses will be introduced, focusing on a blend of theoretical study and hands-on training. A key highlight of this initiative is the support provided by the university’s placement cell, which will assist successful candidates in securing employment within the industry sectors involved. The initial lineup of programmes includes highly technical fields such as Port Operations, Logistics, and Customs Compliance using AI, as well as a Diploma in Drone Operation and Services, which offers DGCA certification. Other courses cover Advanced Electronic Security System Design, Additive Manufacturing including 3D Printing and Smart Manufacturing, and a specialized programme in Food Processing, Apparels, and Supply Chain Management. “The primary objective of this collaboration is to equip Kerala’s youth with expertise in state-of-the-art technologies, thereby making them competitive in the global job market. The partnership also intends to remain dynamic, with plans to introduce more innovative courses in the future to keep pace with evolving market trends and ensure sustainable career growth for students,” said the Vice-Chancellor.
