Shiv Pratap Shukla, who is currently serving as the Governor of Himachal Pradesh, has been appointed as the new Governor of Telangana. He will replace Jishnu Dev Varma, who had been serving as the Governor of Telangana. Mr Varma will now assume charge in Maharashtra as part of the latest changes announced by President Droupadi Murmu. Mr Shukla served as the Minister of State for Finance in the Narendra Modi government from 2017 to 2019. He represented Uttar Pradesh in the Rajya Sabha from July 2016 to July 2022. He won as a MLA from the Gorakhpur Urban constituency for four consecutive terms starting in 1989. He held various ministerial portfolios in the Uttar Pradesh government, including Rural Development, Jails, and Basic Education.
