As the region prepares for a scorching summer, the potters of Manamadurai are working at a feverish pace. Their goal is simple – to deliver their cooling clay wares to markets across the State before the heat truly sets in.

Manamadurai remains the premier destination for clay traders in Tamil Nadu, with nearly 200 families still practicing the traditional craft. Now armed with a Geographical Indication (GI) tag, the town’s clay products have gained international acclaim while maintaining a dominant presence in domestic markets.
