Shivamogga police arrest three for damaging car over property dispute

The Doddapete police on Wednesday arrested three persons on charges of damaging a private car parked at Sharavathi Nagar in Shivamogga. The arrested are Sharath and Prashanth of Vinoba Nagar in the city and Sathish of Sharavathi Nagar.

The police registered a case based on a complaint filed by Suresh R., of Sharavathi Nagar, on Wednesday morning. He alleged that unknown persons, covering their faces, hit the windscreen, side glasses and rear glass of the car that he had parked in front of his house late at night on Tuesday. Their act was captured on the CCTV cameras installed at the entrance of the house. The footage from the camera went viral on social media.

The police, under the leadership of Inspector Satyanagarayan, investigated the case. Upon verifying the CCTV videos, the police could trace the accused with the help of the complainant. During the inquiry, it was revealed that Suresh, the complainant, and Sathish, one of the accused, had differences in connection with the sale of a house. Both had filed cases against each other earlier. Sathish’s friends Prashanth and Sharath, who knew about the differences, damaged the car and caused a loss to the tune of ₹2.5 lakh.
