Madras, March 4: India was one of the most promising destination points for future travel by American tourists, Mr. Dale Remington, President, New York Travel Writers Association, and Producer and Director of an American Television team, said to-day. Mr. Remington is on a 12-day tour of India as one of a 13-member group of American travel agents, travel writers and producers. The team led by Mr. M. Chudesama, Public Relations Manager, Air-India, New York, arrived in Bombay on February 28. Seven members of the team including Mr. James Vito, TV cameraman, left to-day for Trivandrum, after a three-day visit to the city. Mr. Remington told newsmen at the airport that so far people in the United States had been given mostly a negative impression of India — about starvation, poverty and other aspects. But his team wanted to show a real picture of the rural folk, how they lived and worked, depicting many facets of life. In Bombay, they had taken shots of horse races and in Madras they had made some TV films on pottery making, day-to-day life of fishermen, the monuments at Mahabalipuram, and the Snake Park at Guindy, which was being run very well. These films would be shown on TV in the U.S. under the programme “Kaleidoscope”.
