An Assistant Inspector of Labour, S. Shanthi, was arrested on charges of demanding and accepting ₹15,000 as bribe for processing an application for packing licence, on Wednesday. The police said that the accused officer had recently conducted inspection at a supermarket in Aruppukottai and imposed a fine of ₹5,000 on it for not properly packing the grocery goods.
