Road upgradation works covering 2,084 stretches for 287.99 km at a cost of ₹123 crore are under way in the Coimbatore Corporation limits. According to an official release, the works are being executed under Phases II, III and IV of the Tamil Nadu Urban Road Improvement Programme (TURIP). Under Phase II, 1,847 roads spanning 254.54 km were sanctioned at ₹106.14 crore for conversion into bituminous and cement concrete roads. Of these, 164 roads covering 25.14 km have been completed and the remaining works are in progress.
