APSRTC to provide free bus travel to persons with disabilities from March 18

The Government of Andhra Pradesh has launched ‘Indra Dhanassu’, an initiative to strengthen the welfare and social inclusion of Persons with Disabilities (PwDs).

As part of this initiative, the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) will provide free bus travel facility to persons with disabilities.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will formally launch the scheme on March 18, 2026, following which the free travel facility for persons with disabilities will be implemented across the State.

A statement issued by the APSRTC on Wednesday said this free travel facility would be extended to all eligible PwDs covered under Section 2 (ZC) of the RPwD Act, 2016, who have 40% or more disability. The facility would be available in five categories of APSRTC buses — City Ordinary, Metro Express, Palle Velugu, Ultra Palle Velugu and Express services.

Eligible escorts accompanying the PwDs would be provided 50% concession in these categories of buses.

The initiative was aimed at enhancing accessibility, mobility and social participation of persons with disabilities by providing them with convenient and dignified public transport services, said the statement.
