Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Monday flagged off 155 new vehicles, purchased at a total cost of ₹13.73 crore, for the Revenue and Disaster Management Department in Island Grounds in Chennai. An official release said the vehicles would be used by Sub-Collectors, Deputy Collectors, and Tahsildars and other officers working under the Revenue and Disaster Management Department. “The Revenue and Disaster Management Department functions as the backbone of the State’s administrative system and plays a crucial role in delivering various government welfare schemes to the public. The Department also serves as the primary agency in relief and rescue operations during natural disasters such as heavy rain, floods, and cyclones. Therefore, vehicles are an essential requirement for senior officials working in this department,” the release said. The purchase of the vehicles was announced during the Revenue and Disaster Management Department’s Demands for Grants for 2025-26. The release added that 370 new vehicles had been provided to Revenue Department officers at a cost of ₹36.74 crore since the DMK government came to power in 2021.
