TIRUCHI An Assistant Engineer of Tamil Nadu Power Distribution Corporation Ltd. (TNPDCL) was arrested by officials of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) on Wednesday for allegedly accepting a bribe from a farmer to provide free electricity connection. According to DVAC sources, Parthiban, Assistant Engineer at TNPDCL office in Marungapuri, allegedly demanded ₹10,000 from Mariyappan, a farmer from T. Idaiyapatti village, for providing free electricity connection to his agricultural land. The amount was later reduced to ₹5,000.
