The Centre has sanctioned ₹736.27 crore for taking up drinking water and septage management projects in the urban local bodies (ULBs) in Anantapur district. Anantapur MP G. Lakshminarayana said that the funds were allocated under AMRUT 2.0 and AIIB schemes by the Union government, with an objective to provide safe drinking water to the people and for proper sewage water treatment in the ULBs. Infrastructure required for providing potable drinking water and sewage treatment facilities will be developed with the funds. Of the total amount, ₹305.60 crore has been allocated under AMRUT 2.0 scheme and the remaining ₹430.67 crore through AIIB, Mr. Lakshminarayana said. According to the MP, ₹107.71 crore will be spent in Anantapur, ₹77.35 crore in Tadipatri municipality, ₹42.12 crore in Guntakal, ₹78.42 crore in Rayadurgam, ₹250.93 crore in Gooty, and ₹179.74 crore in Kalyandurgam municipality respectively. Mr. Lakshminarayana said that the works on these projects would commence in April. He said that the TDP-led NDA government in the State will complete the works at a swift pace and would work towards overall development of urban areas with the cooperation of the Centre.
