The death toll has increased to five in the fire caused by a cylinder blast at a jewellery manufacturing unit in Sowcarpet on February 25, 2026. The police had said a gas cylinder had exploded in the jewellery-making shop owned by 35-year-old Sumanpal Bisojit, located on the fourth floor of a commercial building on Singannan Street of Sowcarpet.
