KSRTC typically increases fares on premium services by 10–15% during peak travel periods, such as April to June and October to December, when passenger demand is high. During the off-season, fares are usually brought back to regular levels. This move, according to officials, has opted for additional reductions to stimulate demand and improve occupancy on premium routes. According to KSRTC officials, the revised fares will apply to buses running from depots such as Bengaluru Central, Mysuru Rural, Puttur, Davanagere, Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru, Chitradurga, Mangaluru and several other depots. The fare cuts cover a wide range of services, including the top-end Ambaari Utsav multi-axle air-conditioned sleeper coaches, Ambaari Dream Class, multi-axle air-conditioned sitting coaches, Rajahamsa services, as well as non-air-conditioned sitting services. beng“The objective is to make premium travel more affordable during the lean season and encourage passengers to continue choosing KSRTC over private operators. By offering competitive fares, we expect better seat occupancy and sustained revenue despite lower seasonal demand,” a senior KSRTC official said.
